About Me

Kate Kennedy, College Park City Council (District 1) candidate, with Bill and Seneca
I live on 51st Ave. with my husband, Bill, and our rescue dog, Seneca.  We are also certified foster parents and have welcomed multiple teens into our home.
An effective Council Member

I have served on the College Park City Council for three terms and represent the northern most section of College Park.  Under my tenure, I have lead multiple initiatives including:

  • Chair, Community Land Trust. I lead the newly formed $15 million trust from early inception to present.
  • Chair, Committee on Committees. Understanding the importance of community engagement, I worked with fellow council members to revamp the committee process that has attracted more folks to participated in city committees.
  • Facilitated, new tutoring program at Hollywood Elementary.  I connected and advocated for city funding for a tutoring program to aid in COVID learning loss.
A Business-Savvy Community Leader

After earning my MBA from Georgetown Business School, I work helping valuable nonprofits serve our communities.  I currently work for a large food security nonprofit directing their fundraising program in the Mid-Atlantic.

College Park Dedication

I have lived in College Park since 2014 when my husband, Bill, and I bought our house here.  I quickly fell in love with the community, and I have enthusiastically worked to strengthen this wonderful community. I quickly became an active member of the North College Park Community Association (NCPCA), a board member for the College Park Community Foundation, and vice-chair on the College Park’s Advisory Planning Commission (APC).  In 2017, I was elected to serve on the city council from District One and have served ever since.

I believe a neighborhood should be more than a collection of strangers. It should be a community.
